Fond farewell to our Part 1 Graduate

Bluesky’s mentoring scheme bridges the gap between university and architecture in practice. Part 1 students will spend time with our Architectural and Architectural Technologist teams to help develop their knowledge and understanding of RIBA work stages.

Every student is partnered with a mentor from the start of their placement to provide guidance, support, as well as giving the students challenging and diverse work opportunities which will go on to help them in the future.

Dan has been working for Bluesky as a Part 1 student over the last 12 months, leaves at the end of the month – hear what Dan has to say about his placement.

‘My time at Bluesky Architects has been extremely rewarding, mixing with architects of different experiences along with interior designers and technicians has helped me to grow as an individual and increased my skills significantly over the last 12 months. I have gained vital experience to carry forward in my career, not only for office life but for the professional side of my skill set, gaining a deeper understanding into the RIBA work stages along with broadening my digital skills with core software as well as new software.

Key aspects of my last 12 months have been the friends I have made at the company, all the staff have been amazing and helpful especially my mentor, Ranbir. They have guided me through the last year and helped me with whatever I have needed help with as well as teaching me methods and techniques of designing, presenting, communicating and modelling. Another key aspect has been going to meetings, consultations, site visits, factory visits and generally seeing what goes on outside of the office. This has allowed me to have a better understanding of the design/construction process.

Overall this past year has been a great experience for me, I have been given the space to expand my skills and increase my awareness of the architectural industry. I feel Bluesky and my colleagues have set me up well to go back to university and complete my Masters qualification to the best of my abilities.’

We are committed in supporting and developing graduates of Architecture and Architectural Technology courses at either Part 1 or 2 of the RIBA qualification stages. Our mentoring scheme will help graduates to gain their qualifications and set them up for their careers.

As we say farewell to Dan, we are also welcoming two Part 1 students from Manchester School Of Architecture and John Moores University who will be undertaking their Part 1 experience with us over the next 12 months’
