Farewell to Lucy our Part 1 Architecture Student

August 20, 2024

Bluesky’s mentoring program offers a valuable transition from university to real-world architectural practice. Part 1 students will work closely with our team of Architects and Architectural Technologists, gaining hands-on experience while deepening their knowledge of RIBA work stages.

Our Part 1 student is paired with a dedicated mentor throughout their placement, ensuring they receive personalised guidance and support. This mentorship also provides students with diverse and challenging work experiences, preparing them for a successful future in the field.

Lucy has been with Bluesky for the past year and leaves at the end of August We caught up with Lucy to learn about her experience during her placement at Bluesky.

”My time working at Bluesky Architects has been extremely rewarding and has equipped me with invaluable skills and experience that I can take forward into my future career. I have thoroughly enjoyed my year at Bluesky, experiencing a varied work environment by working with all members of the team on many different schemes. Being a part of the team has been a fulfilling experience and in the last 12 months I feel as though I have developed my abilities in both digital software and professional skills, furthering my understanding of all vital processes within a project.

During my time in the role, I have experienced all aspects to the job, learning new techniques and the modelling process, working with a variety of colleagues and learning much from each one of them. I have taken part in meetings, CPDs and aspects of decision making, and each of these experiences has allowed me to develop my understanding and capabilities to better fulfil my position within the team.

Developing within all aspects of the role, I have been mentored and supported within a positive environment and I am very grateful for all of the help and guidance I have received over the past year. I can’t thank the team at Bluesky enough and I feel well prepared and equipped to move forwards in my career journey, and much more confident in my skills for returning to complete my Masters.”

Good Luck Lucy!
