A fond farewell to our Part 1 Graduate Catherine

Bluesky’s mentoring scheme bridges the gap between university and architecture in practice. Part 1 students will spend time with our Architectural and Architectural Technologist team to help develop their knowledge and understanding of RIBA work stages.

Every student is partnered with a mentor from the start of their placement to provide guidance and support, as well as giving the students challenging and diverse work opportunities which will go on to help them in the future.

Catherine has been working for Bluesky as a Part 1 student over the last 12 months and leaves at the end of the month.

Catherine Said: ‘My time with Bluesky Architects has been invaluable to my learning in architectural practice. The experience has been extremely rewarding from the offset and I believe I have grown as an individual throughout my time. The last 12 months have allowed me to gain vital experience, integrating with architects and technicians, and developing my skill set in digital software and professional skills. I have particularly gained a greater understanding of the RIBA work stages and the design and build process.

Being part of the Bluesky team has enabled me to be supported and mentored in all aspects of office life. Throughout the year I have been guided and so forth able to significantly develop my skills in all aspects of working in an architectural practice. I have been taught new techniques and methods of designing, modelling and communicating which has helped me to grow my self-confidence in my abilities.  I have experienced CPD events, meetings, public consultations, and site visits throughout my time, and I have really benefitted from being involved in life outside of the office. These opportunities have enhanced my knowledge of the full design process.

Overall, I cannot thank my colleagues enough for their help throughout the past year. I have been given opportunities to expand my skills and develop my understanding of the architectural industry. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time and I am leaving Bluesky confident that working here has equipped me in the best possible way for returning to University for my Masters.’
