Bluesky Trip to Athens
September 6, 2017
8 Bluesky travellers undertook a cultural study trip to Athens over the weekend, visiting the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre (SNFCC) and the Acropolis.
The trip was organised our tour guide Katerina in Bluesky, who previously worked for Betaplan Architects in Athens in collaboration with internationally renowned architect Renzo Piano Workshop, on the SNFCC building.
The project houses the Greek National Opera and Library set in an outstanding parkland location, high above the main port of Athens, and has recently just opened. A presentation of the architectural design was given by the Architects, and followed by a guided tour the following day.
We also visited the Acropolis, exploring the remains of the Parthenon, and other temples, amid the soaring 30 degree temperatures !
The trip was a huge success, with several cultural visits made to local olive grove restaurants, numerous city centre bars, rooftop restaurants, and kebab cafes, and served as a great team bonding exercise for everyone.
